Following the Scorchers' thrilling win in the BBL Trophy last night, we are going to break down the key things that decided the game in Surrey's favour.

Key Stat

One stat stood out amongst all others on the box score following this one. Rebounds. In a tight game that went down to the wire, Surrey won the battle on the boards 49-39.

This rebounding number helped Surrey to 18 second chance points, on a night where they shot a measly 6 of 30 from deep. By contrast, Plymouth registered 0 (yes, zero) second chance points in the game.

Key Player

Saiquan Jamison - The heart and soul of the Scorchers this season, Jamison had a monster night. He registered 13 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in just under 30 minutes of play.

He shot an efficient 5 of 9 from the field and his work on the boards was crucial to the Scorchers getting this win. Surrey were a +12 with him on the floor, bettered only by Padiet Wang, who also played a key role in the comeback.

Key Play

It was a tied game with 01:23 left on the clock. Wang's jump shot missed and Jamison grabbed the rebound. Justin Robinson tried from beyong the arc, it was no good but Jamison came up with yet another offensive rebound. Eventually Andrew Lawrence put the ball in to give Surrey a lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

Jamison's back to back offensive rebounds kept the play alive for the Scorchers and gave them crucial second (and third) chance opportunities. On a night where they didn't shoot well, this was absolutely critical as they secured the win.
